Logistic regression and generalized estimating equation models were used to assess associations with online sex-seeking. MSM face high levels of stigma as a result of their sexual practices, including verbal, physical, and psychological abuse 5. High levels of sexual behavior stigma may act as a barrier to HIV testing and care for MSM, and this is particularly problematic in countries with concentrated key population epidemics where anti-gay legislation erects further barriers 6 — In some parts of Nigeria, homosexual activity between men is punishable by death As a result, there is a strong need for HIV prevention interventions to reach these highly stigmatized and high-risk men. This high prevalence has partly been due to the increasing popularity of the Internet and smart phone technology, which has led to a widespread phenomenon of online sex-seeking 16 , Furthermore, in countries with high levels of sexual behavior stigma affecting MSM, highly stigmatized MSM may be more likely to seek sex online. A qualitative study conducted among MSM in Chengdu, China, noted that anonymity and safety were major contributing factors to using the Internet to find male sex partners

Transactional sex — the exchange of sex for money, gifts or favour — is not uncommon on Nigerian university campuses. Local media and previous research have reported that some students on Nigerian campuses engage in transactional sex. They exchange sex with men in positions of power for grades, money and gifts. These men are known as blessers, aristos, sugar daddies or sponsors. The trend is of concern because it is linked to an increased risk of HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Transactional sex also increases the risk of unplanned pregnancies, unsafe abortions and exposure to sexual and gender-based violence. Very little research has been done on why students engage in transactional sex.

By Nellie Peyton. The film is fictional but aims for a realistic and gritty picture to raise awareness of what is a persistent and little-discussed problem, said year-old director Kenneth Gyang. For decades, scores of Nigerian women and girls have been lured to Europe with promises of work, then trapped in debt bondage and forced to sell sex. In the movie, a journalist goes undercover as a sex worker to expose human trafficking and quickly gets in over her head. People were angry. In one scene, sex workers undergo a religious ritual that binds them to their traffickers with black magic - a common practice that renders women too fearful to mount an escape.
